diff notes

To compare the contents of all files in directories [dir1] and [dir2]:

diff -r [dir1] [dir2]

To list the files that differ, without showing differences:

diff -qr [dir1] [dir2]

Generate a diff in unified format:

diff -u [old] [new] > [diff]
