To duplicate a DVD - copy it to a blank DVD - you can use dd to dump its data as an ISO file then record it to a new DVD using growisofs.
dd if=/dev/dvd of=thedvd.iso
growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=thedvd.iso
